Dodgers Sweep Wild Card Series, Set Sights on Phillies
The Los Angeles Dodgers dominated the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Wild Card Series, securing their spot in the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers' offense, led by Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez, hit five home runs in Game 1 and eight in the series.
"We've been playing pretty good baseball the last two weeks, three weeks," Hernandez said. "We know the things that we can do, especially in big moments like this." The Dodgers' pitching, led by Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, was equally impressive, with Snell allowing just two runs in seven innings.
The Dodgers outscored the Reds 18-9, out-hitting them 23-16. "We've got a really good group here," first baseman Spencer Steer said. "We've got to go out and earn it. We've got to work hard this offseason and come back with a chip on our shoulder and play baseball."
The Dodgers will face the Phillies in the NLDS, beginning on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies will try to upset the odds and send the Dodgers packing.
